Semien and family are scheduled to attend food distribution at Texas Rangers Youth Academy on Friday, June 16
Arlington, Texas¡ª Texas Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien will sponsor a new summer food distribution program at the Texas Rangers Youth Academy that will take place every Friday through August 4.
The food distributions, which will directly benefit Rangers Youth Academy families, officially begin tomorrow, June 2, from 11 a.m. ¨C noon, following baseball and softball programming at the Academy.
Pre-packaged boxes stuffed with a variety of food, including fresh produce and non-perishables, will be distributed to support the positive nutrition of athletes training to improve their baseball and softball skills throughout the summer months. Distribution amount will vary between 150-200 boxes, adjusted weekly to account for higher demand during Youth Academy tournaments or other special events.
Semien, his wife Tarah, and their children are scheduled to be at the Texas Rangers Youth Academy on Friday, June 16, to distribute food directly to recipients. More details will be announced the week of June 12.
Families with children registered for baseball and softball training may pick up items in the Academy parking lot every Friday, as outlined in their programming registration materials. Meals will be distributed to Youth Academy families while supplies last, with any remaining food donated to the greater DFW community.
Semien¡¯s donation to provide summer meals is his latest effort to support the West Dallas Academy.
The Semien family has offered an active presence at the Texas Rangers Youth Academy since signing with the Rangers in December 2021, participating in events like the Rangers¡¯ MLK Day of Service and Thanksgiving meal distribution, in addition to dropping in on year-round baseball and softball programming sessions.
Representatives from Food for the Soul, the Texas Rangers Foundation and Youth Academy, and Rangers¡¯ front office will assist in distributing food to families during the next 10 Fridays through August 4.
