Chicago ¡ª The Texas Rangers¡¯ scheduled game on Tuesday night against the White Sox in Chicago has been suspended in the top of the first inning due to rain. The game will resume tomorrow, August 28 as part of a ¡°doubleheader¡± starting at 4:10 p.m. CT. The second contest will begin approximately 30-45 minutes following the conclusion of the opener but not earlier than 7:10 p.m.
Both games in Wednesday¡¯s ¡°doubleheader¡± will be televised by Bally Sports Southwest with radio broadcasts on 105.3 The FAN. Fans with tickets and parking passes dated for Wednesday, August 28 can attend both games of tomorrow¡¯s doubleheader. Refunds for purchases of tickets to tonight¡¯s game on August 27 should be initiated at the point of purchase.
The Elias Sports Bureau notes that tomorrow¡¯s games will not technically be considered part of a ¡°doubleheader¡±, as the first game will officially take place on Tuesday, August 27.
According to Retrosheet.org, this is just the sixth suspended game in Rangers history (beg. 1972) and the first time ever that the club has seen a road contest be suspended.
Left-handed pitcher Andrew Heaney, who was originally scheduled to start for the Rangers this evening, is Texas¡¯ probable starting pitcher for tomorrow¡¯s opener.
The White Sox tonight announced that right-handed pitcher Chris Flexen is expected to relieve Tuesday¡¯s starter, left-hander Garrett Crochet, when the contest resumes on Wednesday. Crochet threw just four pitches to reach a 2-2 count against Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien before the contest was suspended in the top of the first.
