Semien family summer food distributions return to Texas Rangers Youth Academy
Texas Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien and his family are partnering with the Rangers Foundation and Food for the Soul for the second consecutive year to support kids participating in summer programming at the Texas Rangers Youth Academy.
As athletes and parents of four young children, Semien and his wife Tarah, who played Division I volleyball, recognize the importance of providing young athletes with nourishing and well-balanced diets, especially during the summer when families can¡¯t rely on healthy school lunches.
With their support, on eight Fridays between May 31 and Aug. 9, athletes heading home from baseball and softball training will receive a box stuffed with fresh produce and shelf-stable items.
Representatives from Food for the Soul, the Texas Rangers Foundation and Youth Academy, and the Rangers¡¯ front office will assist in distributing food throughout the summer.
The food distribution is open to all families with children registered for Youth Academy baseball and softball training, and items may be picked up in the Academy parking lot every Friday, as outlined in programming registration materials.
Boxes will be distributed to Academy families while supplies last, with any remaining food donated to the greater DFW community.
