School Groups

The Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum offers interactive and educational programming for school and adult groups. In addition to traditional on-site field trips, these programs can be delivered live via Zoom or Google Meet videoconferencing or brought directly to your location with a museum educator visiting your classroom or activity center.

"Extra Innings" education programs, presented by Ohio's 529 Plan, are strongly recommended for all students who participate in a videoconference, outreach program, or visit the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum. These programs are designed to augment your classroom curriculum and are correlated to the Common Core State Standards.

Program Costs

Outreach and videoconference programs costs are $3 per person, and a minimum of 15 total participants is required.

Scheduling Your Program

Outreach and videoconferencing programs are available seven days a week.

For videoconferencing, a test connection is required before the program date.

"Extra Innings" Education Programs

The Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum offers educational programming for pre-kindergarten to 12th-grade students. Participating in one of our "Extra Innings" programs presented by Ohio's 529 Plan will enhance?your visit to the Hall of Fame and illustrate how baseball plays a role in history, mathematics and science curriculums. Enjoy these fun-filled, lively and educational programs that are correlated to the Common Core State Standards. Please note that a minimum of 15 students is required to participate in an education program. Reservations are accepted for the upcoming school year on September 1.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

pre-K - 2nd grade | 30 minutes in length

This is a wild and wacky introduction to the world of baseball! Learn baseball basics, shapes and colors as you build a baseball diamond for the Major Leagues, tap out a rhythm to "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" in your very own Baseball Orchestra and finish with baseball story time in this silly program for baseball's youngest fans.

Home Run History

2nd - 4th grade | 45 minutes in length

Baseball has always been America's pastime, but it certainly has changed along the way! Huddle together in teams to play the Hall of Fame's version of "Baseball Jeopardy!" This quiz show-style game asks you to figure out how communication, transportation and events in American history are related to the game of baseball. A great experience that brings social studies concepts to life while having lots of fun!

Build a Baseball Team

3rd - 12th grade | 90 minutes in length

We need your help! In this math-focused program, you must work with your fellow students to create the next championship baseball team. Using budgets and statistics from Major League Baseball, compare players' strengths, weaknesses and salaries to assemble a nine-man team. Then, present your team in a "press conference" and use math to figure out whose team is the best! Who would have thought the economics and mathematics of baseball could be this much fun?!

The Science of Baseball

3rd - 6th grade | 60 minutes in length

What does science have to do with baseball? Does science really affect what happens on the baseball diamond? Become "baseball scientists" to find out! Grab a clipboard, pencil and lab sheet to help the Hall of Fame conduct experiments that test force, friction and air density. Discover the truth about science, and how baseball players couldn't live without it!

Reds on the Radio!

3rd - 8th grade | 60 minutes in length

Travel back in time to 1940, when the Reds won the World Series and radio reigned supreme! Evaluate primary-source documents to discover just how life in Cincinnati has changed over the years. Hear an early children's radio program, 1940s dance music and Game 7 of the World Series. Study other key documents, and then complete your visit by creating a primary source of your own: a Reds radio broadcast! Take your CD recording back to the classroom (one copy provided to teacher) and celebrate your own history!

Marketing and the Cincinnati Reds

7th - 12th grade | 60 minutes in length

Serving as a great enhancement to high school sports marketing courses, this program introduces students to sponsorship, advertising, and promotional elements associated with a professional sports franchise like the Cincinnati Reds. After a short presentation that exposes students to the major aspects of sports marketing, participants are tasked to design a creative marketing strategy surrounding a potential promotional item at Great American Ball Park.

Great American Ball Park Guided Tours

Great American Ball Park tours are offered to school groups as part of their field trips. This guided tour includes visits to the Press Box, the dugout, the seating bowl, Crosley Terrace, and the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum. All tours will begin at the Reds Hall of Fame unless otherwise noted in your confirmation packet. Great American Ball Park tours are available during the baseball season and on select days during the offseason.

Planning Your Visit

School Bus Parking

On visit dates where there is not a day game, school bus parking is available on the ball park side of Joe Nuxhall Way (near the rose gardens) or on Mehring Way, which is south of Great American Ball Park. Buses may drop off students at the main entrance of the Hall of Fame, which is accessed on Joe Nuxhall Way. Buses can then go south on Joe Nuxhall Way and then turn left at the Mehring Way intersection. Bus drivers must be available to relocate school buses at all times in case of emergency. Parking on Joe Nuxhall Way/Mehring Way is free of charge to school bus transportation only. Private vehicles may park in the Central Riverfront Garage (beneath The Banks/Hall of Fame) for $13 per car.

Lunch

Student groups may use the Reds Hall of Fame's outdoor picnic tables at no extra charge, but teachers must make arrangements to use this space in advance (with the Education Manager). Tables are outdoors and are weather dependent, so students should dress accordingly. Groups must clean up all garbage and debris, using trashcans that are provided. Non-refrigerated space is also provided to store lunches and coats while groups are in the Reds Hall of Fame. Please note that glass bottles, aluminum soda cans and hard-sided coolers are strictly prohibited. Plastic bottles are permitted.

Chaperone Requirements

One adult chaperone or teacher is required per 10 students. Chaperones must be prepared to lead their groups through the Reds Hall of Fame galleries, as tours are self-guided. In addition, please alert chaperones that "Extra Innings" programs may require teacher and chaperone assistance. Please divide students into groups and assign chaperones before arriving at the Reds Hall of Fame.

"Scout" the Reds Hall of Fame in advance

Teachers are welcome to pay an advance visit to the Reds Hall of Fame at no charge to "scout" their field trips and prepare correlated lessons for their students. Please present one of the following at the ticket desk: a copy of a teacher's union card, paycheck stub, school identification card or a letter from your school principal on school letterhead.

Scheduling your visit

Admission prices for each component of your field trip are as follows:

Reds Hall of Fame self-guided tour: $3 per student and $5 per adult
Great American Ball Park guided tour (includes Reds Hall of Fame admission): $8 per student and $10 per adult
"Extra Innings" Education Program: $2 per student. No extra charge for adults.

Please note that a Hall of Fame tour ticket may be purchased individually, but a Great American Ball Park tour automatically includes a Hall of Fame tour. Cash, major credit cards, or checks are accepted. If using a purchase order, please submit a copy of the purchase order to the Education Manager in advance of your visit. Checks and purchase orders should be made out to the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum.

For groups attending the Hall of Fame during a day game, ballpark tours may not be scheduled. However, your group may schedule Hall of Fame tours or education programs in advance by calling the Education Manager at 513.765.7922.

Outreach Programs

The museum's six educational program offerings are also available to be presented in your classroom. The program content is identical to what students would receive during a visit to the museum, but a museum educator brings the experience directly to your school. Programs can be delivered in a single day or over multiple visit dates, and they can be presented to individual or combined classrooms.

OUTREACH COSTS

Outreach program costs are dependent on your school's distance from the Reds Hall of Fame, and fees are as follows:

$3 per student per program for schools located less than 30 miles from the Reds Hall of Fame
$4 per student per program for schools located more than 30 miles, but less than 50 miles, from the Reds Hall of Fame
$5 per student per program for schools located more than 50 miles from the Reds Hall of Fame

The above prices also include a complimentary Reds Hall of Fame and Museum admission ticket for each student who participates in an Outreach education program.

Cancellations

Cancellations must be made within 48 hours (two business days) of your field trip, except in cases of inclement weather. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in a $25 service fee. To make a cancellation, please contact (513) 765-7922.
