Team to watch
Not only is Albuquerque that proverbial phone call away, but the Isotopes lead all the Rockies¡¯ affiliates with nine members of their current Top 30. Dollander heads that list and is one of five top 10 prospects calling New Mexico home.
Players we could see in MLB in 2025
We can start right at the top, with most people thinking it¡¯s a matter of when, not if, Dollander -- the club¡¯s top pick in the 2023 Draft -- makes his big league debut this year. He got a long look in Spring Training. He could be joined by any of the position players with him in Triple-A currently, starting with former first-rounder Veen and including international signees Fernandez and Amador, the latter of whom touched the big leagues last year.
New faces
The Rockies took flame-throwing Brecht in the Competitive Balance Round A of last year¡¯s Draft, No. 38 overall. He has top of the rotation stuff, but command had been an issue for him when he was at Iowa. He didn¡¯t throw a pitch last year after signing and, as a former two-sport guy, he has tremendous ceiling.
On the shelf
Romo is out with a finger issue, but it¡¯s not supposed to be anything long-term. The Rockies were excited to get Herrera from the Brewers in the Nick Mears trade last July, and he made six starts for his new organization post-deal. But he needed Tommy John surgery at the end of the season, so they won't get to see more of what he can do until he returns.
