Royals Sustainability
The game of baseball was meant to be played on green grass with blue skies that stretch on forever. And for the Royals and our partners, we¡¯re committed to taking big swings to make a difference ¡ª helping to ensure a healthy future for the game by working to create a sustainable and renewable future for Kansas City.
The 3 Bases of Royals Sustainability - Sustainable Energy ? Recycling ? In-Stadium Reduction
Sustainable Energy
From the solar panels in our outfield to our efforts to offset our energy consumption with investment in carbon offset credits, we understand the importance of sustainable energy. Our entire ballpark lighting is energy-efficient LED. Our drink stations around the concourse provide access for fans to refill personal water bottles. Finally, Evergy charging stations are located in Lot M for those who drive electric vehicles to the ballparks.
Recycling
We are empowering our fans to reduce, reuse, and recycle through a robust stadium presence. With dedicated RTS recycling receptacles, when you recycle at The K, you can feel confident you¡¯re reducing the burden on our landfills. Each bin in the parking lot has a pello sensor, scanning our trash to determine how full the bin is and alerting the trash hauler when it is full¡ªthis effort cuts down on carbon emissions. We also supply glass bins around the concourse.
In-Stadium Reduction
We are focused on reducing our carbon footprint at the ballpark. To improve sustainability, we¡¯ve partnered with our suppliers to source sustainable foods, beverages, materials, and more. This includes our brand-new outfield garden, Fountain Gardens which supplies ingredients in some of our premium areas as well as food donations to UYA families. We¡¯ve also partnered with Pete¡¯s Garden this season to donate leftover meals addressing food insecurity in Kansas City. Finally, we¡¯re working with Aramark on donating food to Harvesters.
