FREE Youth Event featured surprise Q&A with the Baseball Hall of Famer, New York Yankees legend and 14x All-Star
Miami, Fla. ¨C March 8, 2025 - Major League Baseball and Derek Jeter¡¯s Turn 2 Foundation gave 150 young people from Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade and Broward County an opportunity to participate in a special ¡°PLAY BALL¡± event. The event featured a surprise appearance and Q&A discussion with Baseball Hall of Famer and 14x All-Star Derek Jeter, as well as Turn 2 Foundation President Sharlee Jeter and MLB VP of Baseball and Softball Development David James. Event instruction was led by MLB PLAY BALL Youth Ambassador Coach Ballgame.
The introductory-level baseball and softball activities encouraged greater accessibility to the sport, taught life lessons and demonstrated variety of ways in which the game can be played in almost any setting. As part of MLB¡¯s broader ¡°PLAY BALL¡± initiative, all participants received a FREE bat and ball set for play at home in addition to a commemorative PLAY BALL t-shirt.
