Jeter¡¯s Turn 2 Foundation presented $50,000 donation to Baha Mar Resort Foundation during DJI Gala
NASSAU, BAHAMAS ¨C Dozens of athletes and celebrities joined Baseball Hall of Famer Derek Jeter in The Bahamas for the Derek Jeter Invitational (DJI) in partnership with Baha Mar, which contributed critical funds to support Jeter¡¯s Turn 2 Foundation. During the event held at The Bahamas¡¯ luxury resort destination, VIP guests teed off for two days of competitive golf at Baha Mar¡¯s Jack Nicklaus signature design Royal Blue Golf Course and enjoyed special events held throughout the resort.
¡°From service projects across the country to college tours, mental health programs, internships and so much more, the milestones and initiatives that take place as a result of this event are truly lifechanging for hundreds of young people. On Thursday, Sept. 19, attendees enjoyed a beachfront welcome party at Marcus at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House emceed by radio personality, author, hip-hop artist and actress Angie Martinez, which featured music by legendary, award-winning artist, DJ and philanthropist D-Nice. The two-round celebrity-amateur golf tournament began Friday, Sept. 20, at the 18-hole Royal Blue Golf Course followed by a competitive celebrity shootout, and continued Saturday, Sept. 21.
Following the tournament on Saturday, Derek Jeter headed over to Andre Rodgers National Baseball Stadium to surprise local youth and hold a special Q&A discussion at the Game Changers Baseball Camp.
The festivities concluded Saturday evening with the highly anticipated DJI Gala. The Gala, which took place at The Grand Hyatt Convention Center and was emceed by Angie Martinez, featured a star-studded red carpet and an incredible live musical performance by world-renowned rapper and artist Flo Rida. During the Gala, The Turn 2 Foundation presented a $50,000 donation to the Baha Mar Resort Foundation to support its efforts pertaining to community, culture and conservation throughout The Bahamas.
