KANSAS CITY -- Walker Jenkins, the Twins¡¯ top prospect and the No. 3 prospect in all of baseball per MLB Pipeline, is back on the injured list.
Jenkins, 20, experienced ¡°renewed stiffness¡± in his left ankle, according to Twins general manager Jeremy Zoll. It¡¯s the same ankle that Jenkins sprained early in Spring Training, causing him to miss much of camp.
The outfielder, who was the No. 5 pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, opened the season on the active roster for Double-A Wichita and played two games before being placed on the IL. He was 1-for-8 in those games.
It¡¯s the second consecutive season that Jenkins has been placed on the IL in the season¡¯s first week, though the hope is that it should be a less lengthy stay this year. He sustained a strained left hamstring on Opening Day last year and missed much of the first half of the season.
