Warren returns to NY on Minors deal (report)
The Yankees have agreed to a Minor League contract with right-hander Adam Warren, according to a report from MLB Network insider Jon Heyman on Sunday. The club hasnĄ¯t commented on or confirmed the report.
The 33-year-old Warren has spent parts of seven seasons with the Yankees (2012-18), compiling a 20-20 record and 3.18 ERA in 246 games, mostly as a long reliever and spot starter. He appeared in 69 games in '14 and pitched 3 1/3 hitless innings over two appearances against the Astros in the 2017 American League Championship Series before being traded -- for a second time by the Yankees -- to the Mariners in '18.
Warren last appeared in the Majors with the Padres in 2019, posting a 5.34 ERA over 28 2/3 innings before undergoing Tommy John surgery. The Yankees signed him last offseason, while he was recovering, but the club released him in July.
Warren debuted with the Yankees in 2012 and spent most of the next three seasons with them before being traded to the Cubs in the December 2015 deal that brought Starlin Castro to the Bronx. Chicago traded him back to the Yanks the following year, along with Gleyber Torres, Billy McKinney and Rashad Crawford, for Aroldis Chapman.
Over eight MLB seasons with the Yankees, Cubs, Mariners and Padres, Warren has recorded a 3.53 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP across 323 appearances (21 starts).
