Here are the Mets' 2025 Top 30 prospects
The Mets made it to last year¡¯s National League Championship Series and proceeded to add one of the game¡¯s true superstars in Juan Soto and re-sign 2024 stalwarts Pete Alonso and Sean Manaea, among a slew of offseason moves. Typically, win-now clubs alter their rosters to the detriment of the depth and overall quality of their farm systems. That is not the case in Queens.
Headlined by three Top 100 prospects in Brandon Sproat, Jett Williams and Carson Benge, the Mets still boast a deep Top 30 list, ranging from near-Major-League-ready types to big talents just starting their careers.
Fans in Queens already saw what the farm system can produce when Luisangel Acu?a (No. 7) provided a spark as a late-season callup during Francisco Lindor¡¯s bout with back issues, and more like him are on the way. Sproat and Williams both saw Triple-A Syracuse last season, while Ryan Clifford (No. 4) was one of only five hitters aged 20 or younger to reach the qualifying standard in Double-A. Right-handers Nolan McLean and Jonah Tong -- armed with a plus-plus fastball and a four-seamer with special ride, respectively -- also spent time in Binghamton and could see Flushing in the second half, if they continue on their current trajectories.
For those who take an even longer view, remember that the Mets signed shortstop Elian Pe?a (No. 9) in January for $5 million, the second-highest bonus given to an international player behind Roki Sasaki¡¯s $6.5 million. The 17-year-old shortstop could be the future face of the farm with a plus hit tool and above-average power at a premium position.
While other systems have more high-end talent in the Minor Leagues, the New York organization has admirable depth for a club that plans on competing heavily in the NL East for the short, medium and long term.

Biggest jump/fall
Here are the players whose ranks changed the most from the 2024 preseason list to the 2025 preseason list:
Jump: Jonah Tong, RHP (2024: NR | 2025: 6)
Tong made only 10 appearances between the Florida Complex and Florida State Leagues in 2023, and his lack of experience kept him off the Top 30 completely this time last year. That changed quickly as he proved capable of mowing down hitters at Single-A, High-A and Double-A in ¡®24, finishing with a 3.03 ERA and 160 strikeouts in 113 innings. A bit of a Tim Lincecum lookalike with his over-the-top delivery, Tong displays elite induced vertical break on his 91-94 mph fastball and plays well off that with an above-average curveball at the bottom of the zone.
Fall: Colin Houck, SS (2024: 7 | 2025: 30)
The 2023 32nd overall pick struggled mightily in his first full season, slashing just .206/.304/.306 with five homers in 112 games for Single-A St. Lucie. Houck was too passive at times in two-strike counts and struggled mightily against professional secondary options. He¡¯ll still only be 20 and will be given plenty of time and space to learn from his issues in 2024 and adjust accordingly. But with the Mets loaded with so many infield options, and Pe?a entering the system behind him, Houck can¡¯t afford the struggles to extend into a second full campaign.
