Here are the Rangers' 2025 Top 30 prospects
Injuries derailed the Rangers¡¯ defense of their 2023 World Series championship as they dropped from 90 victories to 78 and finished eight games out of the playoffs. The oldest pitching staff in the Majors was especially hard hit, both in terms of ailments (requiring 15 different starters over the course of the season) and by opponents (Texas 4.37 ERA was the seventh-worst in the game).
The future looks brighter, however. The Rangers have assembled what should be one of the most formidable clubs in the American League this season and they¡¯re coming off a banner year in terms of pitching development.
Kumar Rocker (No. 2) came back from Tommy John surgery, reclaimed the stuff that made him a college superstar and made his long-awaited big league debut in September. Former Vanderbilt teammate Jack Leiter (No. 3) won the Triple-A Pacific Coast League¡¯s pitcher of the year award and also reached Texas for the first time, though he got hammered once he did.
Winston Santos (No. 5) and Emiliano Teodo (No. 6), both signed for $10,000 out of the Dominican Republic in the 2019-20 international class, thrived at Double-A and should make an impact with the Rangers very soon. So should reliever Marc Church (No. 23), who has late-inning stuff. Some evaluators thought 2023 fifth-rounder Alejandro Rosario (No. 7) was the best of the bunch after he carved up hitters at two Class A levels, though his elbow gave out last month and required Tommy John surgery that will sideline him until 2026.
The farm system had some position-player highlights as well. Elite outfield prospects Evan Carter and Wyatt Langford graduated to Texas, though Carter missed most of the season with a stress fracture in his back. Shortstop Sebastian Walcott (No. 1) established himself as one of the game¡¯s best prospects after starring at High-A at age 18. Other international signees such as outfielder Alejandro Osuna (No. 8) and shortstop Yolfran Castillo (No. 9) also boosted their stock.
