Here are the Red Sox's 2025 Top 30 prospects
Though the Red Sox posted their third consecutive non-winning season and failed to make the playoffs for the fifth time in six years since their 2018 World Series title, the news was much more positive down on the farm. Boston had a number of developmental successes and its system stands as one of baseball¡¯s best even after sending four prospects (including its last two first-rounders, Kyle Teel and Braden Montgomery) to the White Sox for Garrett Crochet in December.
Outfielder Roman Anthony, second baseman Kristian Campbell and shortstop Marcelo Mayer all rank among the game¡¯s dozen best prospects and should arrive at Fenway Park this year. Campbell made an amazing rise from supplemental fourth-round pick in 2023 to winning MLB Pipeline Hitting Prospect of the Year, MiLB Breakout Player of the Year and Double-A Eastern League MVP awards, all while reaching Triple-A in his first full pro season.
After struggling to cultivate pitchers in recent years, the Red Sox are making progress on that front, even with their top arm (Luis Perales) set to miss 2025 following Tommy John surgery late last June. They¡¯re deeper in mound prospects after acquiring David Sandlin and Richard Fitts in trades before last season and having others such as Connelly Early, Hunter Dobbins and Juan Valera take steps forward.
Boston¡¯s international department has done strong work as of late. Beside Perales showcasing electric stuff before his elbow gave out, shortstops Franklin Arias and Yoeilin Cespedes, outfielder Jhostynxon Garcia and first baseman Justin Gonzales all drew rave reviews last year. The Red Sox¡¯s 2025 class, led by shortstop Dorian Soto and right-hander Sadbiel Delzine, also looks promising.
