Here are the Yankees' 2025 Top 30 prospects
The Yankees reached the World Series for the first time in 15 years last October, falling to the Dodgers in five games. Though they¡¯re known more for their spending, their farm system contributed as well. Luis Gil won the American League Rookie of the Year Award, while Austin Wells finished third in the voting, and Anthony Volpe was one of the club¡¯s best all-around players in his second season in the big leagues.
Because it¡¯s essentially championships or bust in New York, it¡¯s difficult to maintain a strong farm system. The Yankees routinely trade prospects for veterans and annually have one of the smallest bonus pools in the Draft and on the international market. They should get some more homegrown help in 2025, however, with ultra-hyped Jasson Dom¨ªnguez expected to win the left-field job and right-hander Will Warren ready to step in if a leak springs in the rotation.
Most of the system¡¯s best position prospects had rough 2024 seasons at the plate, including shortstops George Lombard Jr. and Roderick Arias and outfielder Spencer Jones. Few organizations develop pitchers better than New York, which spent its first seven Draft picks on college arms last July, starting with Southeastern Conference righties Ben Hess, Bryce Cunningham and Thatcher Hurd.
