2023

Posted a 3.66 ERA and 9-7 record in a career-high 30 starts (31 apps.), 159.2 innings, 156 strikeouts, 1.15 WHIP and .250 opponents batting AVG. Finished the season with a 5.38 (156/29) K/BB ratio (min. 100.0 IP); ranked third in NL and sixth-best in MLB. Held opponents to one ER or less in 16 starts this season, the second-most such starts by a left-handed starter in club history, trailing only Dontrelle Willis, who recorded 18 such starts in 2005. His 16 starts allowing one or zero ER were tied for second in MLB among starting pitchers, behind only behind SD’s Blake Snell (17). Garrett made 23 starts in which he walked one or zero batters, the most by any left-handed starter in MLB. The Marlins went 21-9 in Garrett’s starts this year. Miami won eight consecutive starts made by Garrett from May 31 to July 8. He went 4-0 with a 2.84 ERA (44.1/14) in this span with four walks and 54 strikeouts. Held opponents to a .209 AVG over the eight starts. Posted a 2.85 ERA (79.0/25) and 73 strikeouts in 15 starts away while going 3-4 with a 4.46 ERA (80.2/40) and 83 strikeouts in 15 starts (16 apps.) at home. On June 22, 2023 vs. Pittsburgh, Garrett’s career-high 13 strikeouts set a club record for the most strikeouts by a Marlins’ left-handed pitcher in a game. The only two players in Club history to finish the month of June with a lower WHIP (min. 25.0 IP) were Jose Fernandez in 2016 (0.70) and Brad Penny in 2001 (0.73). Was optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on April 3 and recalled on April 4, when he was slotted into the rotation for the rest of the season. Made his first outing of the season in relief on April 1 vs. NYM, allowing two runs on six hits (one home run) and one strikeout. Made his first career Opening Day roster. Started Game 2 of the National League Wild Card Series at Citizens Bank Park against Philadelphia in his postseason debut. Allowed two runs on three hits with one walk and five strikeouts over 3.0 innings.

Matched this total Aug. 2 vs. Cincinnati...Missed 23 games on the injured list from Aug. 17 to Sept. 12. In four starts after his injury, went 3-1 with a 3.26 ERA (19.1 IP/7 ER). Pitched to a 3.70 ERA (68.2 IP/28 ER) in 13 starts prior to IL stint...Went 6.0 innings-or-more five times, owning a 0.87 ERA (31.1 IP/3 ER) in those outings with 30 strikeouts...Owned a 2.63 ERA (41.0 IP/12 ER) with three home runs allowed in eight starts at home, compared to a 4.40 ERA (47.0 IP/23 ER) with six home runs allowed in nine starts away...Held left-handed hitters to a .173 avg (14-for-81) with one home run, three total extra base hits and a .482 OPS...Right-handed hitters hit eight home runs (26 extra base hits), while posting an .801 OPS and a .280 batting avg. Struck out a career-high 10 batters, allowing two runs on four hits...Followed up his first win with 5.0 shutout innings against the New York Mets in a no-decision Aug. 5...Made 18 starts for Triple-A Jacksonville. Went 5-4 with a 3.89 ERA in 85.2 innings pitched...Entered the season as the Marlins' No. 9 prospect according to MLB.com.

2020

Braxton L. Garrett went 1-1 with a 5.87 ERA in two starts in 2020. Struckout eight in 7.2 innings... Enters the 2021 season as the Marlins No. 9 prospect according to MLB.com... Made his Major League debut on Sept. 13 against Philadelphia. Worked five innings allowing three hits and one run, striking out six and earning his first big league win... Became the 18th Marlins player to make their MLB debut in 2020. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, no team in Major League history entering the season had as many debuts over a team’s first 60 games.

2019

Returned to action in 2019 after missing all of 2018 recovering from “Tommy John” surgery. Made 20 starts for Advanced-A Jupiter and one start for Double-A Jacksonville...Went 6-6 with a 3.34 ERA for Jupiter in 105.0 innings, striking out 118...Made one start for Jacksonville, allowing four runs, (three earned) in 1.2 innings...Marlins 2019 Spring Training Clubhouse Ping Pong Champion.
