Full name is Kutter Martin Crawford...Played baseball at Indian River State College (2015-16) and Florida Gulf Coast University (2017)...Selected to the All-Atlantic Sun Conference First Team in 2017...Ranked eighth in the NCAA with a 1.71 ERA, the second-lowest in FGCU single-season history...His 99 SO in 2017 were the most by any FGCU pitcher since Chris Sale (104 in 2009, 146 in 2010)...Held opponents to a team-best .194 AVG in 2017, the third-best mark in FGCU single-season history at the time...Graduated from Okeechobee (FL) High School...His older brother, Jonathon, was selected by DET in the first round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft (No. 20 overall).

2023

Spent the majority of the season with BOS, going 3-6 with a 5.47 ERA (47 ER/77.1 IP) in 21 outings (12 starts) over three stints for the Red Sox...Led Sox rookies in innings pitched (77.1)...Became the fourth rookie pitcher since 2016 to make 12+ starts for BOS, joining Brian Johnson (13 in 2018), Tanner Houck (13 in 2021), and Josh Winckowski (14 in 2022)...Also made six appearances (four starts) for Triple-A Worcester, going 1-0 with a 5.18 ERA (14 ER/24.1 IP)...Made his first Opening Day roster after attending his first ML Spring Training. Was the only Red Sox player to make his first Opening Day roster in 2022...Earned his first career win on 4/10 at NYY after tossing two scoreless innings in relief (4 H)...Retired nine of 10 batters faced in three scoreless innings on 4/23 at TB (5 SO, 1 H)...Optioned to Worcester on 5/14. Made his ML debut (one start), but spent most of the season with Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester...Earned the Red Sox’ Lou Gorman Award, given annually to a Red Sox minor league player who has demonstrated dedication and perseverance in overcoming obstacles while working his way to the major league team...Ranked among Red Sox minor leaguers in strikeouts (4th, 131) and innings pitched (9th, 94.2)...Began the season with Portland (10 GS) before being promoted to Worcester on 7/27 (10 G, 9 GS)...Between the two teams, was 6-6 with a 4.28 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and .232 opponent AVG (94.2 IP, 45 ER, 82 H, 131 SO, 20 BB)...Threw at least 5.0 innings in 12 of his starts and at least 6.0 innings in five...Recorded a season-high 10 SO with 0 BB on 7/10 vs. Hartford (6.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER)...Added to the ML roster on 9/5 and started that day vs. CLE (L, 2.0 IP, 5 R, 5 H, 1 HR, 2 BB, 2 SO)...Returned to Worcester the following day...Pitched for Estrellas of the Dominican Winter League following the season...Was 1-0 with a 0.42 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and .195 opponent AVG in 5 starts (21.1 IP, 15 H, 1 ER, 8 BB, 23 SO).
