Full name is Mark Edward Leiter Jr...His father, Mark, pitched 11 MLB seasons with the Yankees (1990), Detroit (1991-93), California (1994), San Francisco (1995-96), Montreal (1996), Philadelphia (1997-98), Seattle (1999) and Milwaukee (2001)...His uncle, Al, played 19 years in the Majors (1987-2005), was a two-time All-Star (1996 with Florida, 2000 with the Mets) and a two-time World Series Champion (1993 with Toronto, 1997 with Florida)...His cousin, Jack, currently pitches for the Texas Rangers and was selected second overall in the 2021 MLB First-Year Player Draft...Graduated in 2013 from New Jersey Institute of Technology...Was the second player to be drafted from NJIT (Ed Carlton, CIN, 2015) and the first to make the Majors¡Struck out 20 batters in a game with NJIT on May 3, 2013, which, at the time, was a school record and the highest single-game total that season in all of Division I...Graduated from Toms River High School North (N.J.).
