Rays move Opening Day game a day later to March 28
The countdown to the 2025 Tampa Bay Rays season begins in 63 days with pitchers and catchers reporting to Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte on Feb. 10.
The regular-season opener is Friday, March 28, at 4:10 p.m. at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Fla., the Spring Training home of the New York Yankees. MLB moved the Rays' Opening Day from Thursday, March 27, to Friday, March 28, to provide additional time to prepare the ballpark for the Rays' home opener against the Rockies.
The Rays will move into the facility at the conclusion of Spring Training when the Yankees head north for Opening Day. Tampa Bay will play home games at Steinbrenner Field throughout the 2025 Major League Baseball regular season. Due to capacity limitations, fans are encouraged to secure seats for the 2025 season with a $100 deposit toward a Full Season Membership. Deposits can be made at RaysBaseball.com/2025Interest.
The Yankees will continue to play Spring Training games at Steinbrenner Field in 2025 and will utilize the full complex, including training areas and the adjacent fields.
