Red Sox add five non-roster invitees to 2025 Spring Training roster
BOSTON, MA〞The Boston Red Sox have added five non-roster invitees to the team*s 2025 Spring Training roster: pitchers Austin Adams, Yovanny Cruz, Noah Davis, Sean Newcomb, and Robert Stock.
Austin Adams, RHP 每 Adams, 33, appeared in 56 games for the Athletics in 2024, posting a 3.92 ERA (18 ER/41. IP) with 53 strikeouts. The right-hander led the club with 22 holds while ranking second in games pitched. Originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the eighth round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, the Florida native owns a 4.10 ERA (71 ER/155.2 IP) with 223 strikeouts in 188 career Major League games (two starts) for the Washington Nationals (2017-19), Seattle Mariners (2019), San Diego Padres (2020-22), Arizona Diamondbacks (2023), and Athletics (2024).
Yovanny Cruz, RHP 每 Cruz, 25, will attend his second consecutive Major League Spring Training camp, also doing so with the San Diego Padres last season. The right-hander posted a 4.55 ERA (15 ER/29.2 IP) with 35 strikeouts over 23 appearances for Double-A San Antonio during 2024. Originally signed by the Chicago Cubs as an international free agent in August 2016, the Dominican Republic native owns a 3.63 ERA (78 ER/193.1 IP) with 216 strikeouts in 82 career minor league games (30 starts).
Noah Davis, RHP 每 Davis, 27, pitched in nine games for the Colorado Rockies during 2024, while also pitching for Triple-A Albuquerque (19 games, eight starts) and the Arizona Complex League Rockies (two starts). Originally selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 11th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the California native owns a 7.71 ERA (44 ER/51.1 IP) in 18 career Major League games (six starts), all with the Rockies (2022-24). The right-hander has also recorded a 4.64 ERA (215 ER/417.0 IP) with 423 strikeouts in 95 career minor league games (84 starts).
Sean Newcomb, LHP 每 Newcomb, 31, is a native of Brockton, Massachusetts. The left-hander pitched for the Athletics in 2024, starting the season on the Injured List before making seven relief appearances in June. Originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the first round (No. 15 overall) of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, he owns a 4.51 ERA (216 ER/431.0 IP) with 438 strikeouts in 175 career Major League games (60 starts) with the Atlanta Braves (2017-22), Chicago Cubs (2022), and Athletics (2023-24).
Robert Stock, RHP 每 Stock, 35, has gone 10-2 with a 1.60 ERA (15 ER/84.1 IP) and 78 strikeouts in 14 starts this winter for Naranjeros de Hermosillo of the Mexican Pacific League. The right-hander spent 2024 with the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos of the Mexican Baseball League, recording a team-high 104 strikeouts while going 9-4 with a 3.38 ERA (37 ER/98.2 IP) in 19 starts. He has also pitched for the Doosan Bears of the Korean Baseball League (2022) and Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League (2023). Originally selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the second round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, the Washington native owns a 4.71 ERA (38 ER/72.2 IP) with 76 strikeouts in 55 career Major League games (three starts) with the San Diego Padres (2018-19), Red Sox (2020), Chicago Cubs (2021), and New York Mets (2021).
