EVP/Chief People & Culture Officer, Boston Red Sox & Fenway Sports Management
Amy Waryas was named Executive Vice President & Chief People & Culture Officer in 2019. Entering her 12th season with the Red Sox, she is responsible for leading overall people and culture strategy for the Red Sox and Fenway Sports Management. Major areas of focus include organizational and cultural development, talent acquisition, learning and development, total rewards and employee well-being, and employee engagement. Waryas is also a key member of the organization's Social Justice, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee, helping to lead this strategic priority alongside other cross-functional leaders.
Waryas began her career with General Electric as a recruiter and trainer, and has since worked in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, publishing, and software. She has worked with companies of varying sizes, from Fortune 10 to a software start-up, where she built the HR department from the ground up.
Prior to joining the Red Sox, Waryas served as Director of Human Resources for The Boston Beer Company, Inc., maker of Samuel Adams beers, where she led the human resources department and was a key member of the executive management team. In that role, she focused heavily on creating strong organizational development programs and enhancing the company's culture.
Waryas, who serves on the Board of Directors for Make-A-Wish? Massachusetts and Rhode Island, holds a bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University and a master's degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from UNC-Charlotte. A native of the Boston area, she grew up in Sudbury, MA. She and her husband, Keith, reside in Holliston with their two children.
