Status: Has been taking live batting practice and playing in the field at the club¡¯s Minor League complex in Tampa, Fla., as of April 17. Could begin a Minor League rehab assignment as soon as April 22, according to manager Aaron Boone, though he will need a fairly long buildup after missing nearly all of Spring Training. Injury: Torn tendons in both elbows

Expected return: Possibly June
Status: Continues to feel pain in both elbows, but says it is now at a manageable level. Traveled with the team to Tampa, Fla., on April 16 and has been hitting off a high-velocity Trajekt machine for weeks. Could resume taking live at-bats soon, manager Aaron Boone said. (updated April 17) More >>

Injury: Recovery from right UCL surgery
IL date: March 24 (15-day)
Expected return: Late May/early June
Status: Tossed live batting practice at Yankee Stadium on April 12 and again on April 16. Scheduled to throw another live BP April 19 or 20 in Tampa, Fla., as he nears a Minor League rehab assignment. (updated April 16)
RHP Jake Cousins
Injury: Right forearm strain
IL date: March 27 (60-day)
Expected return: Possibly May/June
Status: Cousins is ¡°a couple of weeks¡± away from throwing live batting practice, manager Aaron Boone said on April 16. Cousins was transferred to the 60-day injured list on March 27; he is eligible to return May 26. (updated April 16)

Injury: Left knee inflammation

Expected return: Possibly late April
Status: Sent for MRI after reporting left knee discomfort following April 11 start. Received cortisone injection on April 12. "We're hoping it's not long," manager Aaron Boone said. (updated April 13) More >>
LHP Tyler Matzek
Injury: Strained right oblique
Expected return: Late April
Status: Sustained "moderate strain" in Feb. 25 appearance. Made first Minor League appearance April 6 for Single A Tampa, then moved to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where Matzek pitched two innings April 9. Manager Aaron Boone has said Matzek could be big league-ready by the end of April. (updated April 12)
RHP Scott Effross
Injury: Left hamstring strain

Expected return: TBD
Status: Exited Feb. 25 game after one pitch and was diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain. Experienced a setback in his recovery, but he has continued throwing. (updated April 5)
