Feb. 4: RHP Ryan Brasier traded to Cubs for PTBN or cash
Brasier, who was designated for assignment on Jan. 30 in order to clear a 40-man roster spot for Kirby Yates, was dealt to the Cubs. The Dodgers will receive a player to be named or cash considerations in exchange. The veteran right-hander posted a 3.54 ERA across 29 appearances with L.A. in 2024.
INJURY UPDATES
RHP/DH Shohei Ohtani (right elbow surgery; left shoulder surgery)
Expected return: 2025
Ohtani did not pitch in 2024 after having a right UCL repair procedure in September 2023. Ohtani also underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a left labrum tear. He's expected to be ready for both Spring Training and Opening Day as a hitter, but manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani's return to the mound will likely take place sometime in May. 1B Freddie Freeman (right ankle surgery)
Expected return: 2025
After playing through what was described as a badly sprained right ankle during the Dodgers¡¯ postseason run, Freeman underwent a procedure consisting of debridement and the removal of loose bodies on Dec. 5. Freeman has resumed hitting but is not yet cleared to run. He said he expects to miss early Cactus League games, but he believes he's on track to play in the season-opening Tokyo Series. SS Miguel Rojas (sports hernia)
Expected return: 2025
Rojas' offseason program was delayed after he developed an infection while recovering from sports hernia surgery, but he said he's "pretty close to 100%" heading into Spring Training. (Last updated: Feb. 1)
RHP Emmet Sheehan (Tommy John surgery)
Expected return: 2025
Sheehan suffered an injury in his first bullpen session of Spring Training 2024, and the Dodgers announced last May 16 that he had undergone successful surgery on his right UCL that would end his season. Sheehan has resumed throwing off the mound and hopes to begin a rehab assignment in May or June if all continues to go well with his rehab. (Last updated: Feb. 1)
RHP Brusdar Graterol (right shoulder labrum surgery)
Expected return: Second half of 2025
Graterol underwent right shoulder labrum surgery on Nov. 14 that was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache. He is expected to miss the first half of 2025. Last season, the 26-year-old righty was limited to just seven relief appearances due to injuries, including one to his right shoulder. (Last updated: Dec. 9)
RHP Gavin Stone (right shoulder surgery)
Expected return: 2026
The Dodgers announced on Oct. 12 that Stone had right shoulder surgery on Oct. 9, performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache. Stone will likely be out all of the 2025 season.
Stone, who hasn¡¯t picked up a baseball since experiencing right shoulder inflammation on Sept. 6, was transferred to the 60-day injured list on Sept. 24, officially ending his impressive rookie season. (Last updated: Oct. 12)
RHP River Ryan (right forearm tightness)
Expected return: 2025 at earliest
Ryan had successful Tommy John surgery after suffering a UCL strain during his Aug. 11 start against the Pirates. After multiple scans, the Dodgers determined he needed Tommy John surgery. The 26-year-old rookie right-hander went 1-0 with a 1.33 ERA in four starts before suffering his season-ending injury. (Last updated: Aug. 25)
