Gallagher Square

Petco Park proudly offers free access to pickleball courts multiple times a month for the community's enjoyment. Please take a moment to review the following rules, etiquette, prohibited items, as well as policies for the operation of the courts.

Gallagher Square Pickleball Rules

• Non-marking athletic shoes required
• Players are prohibited from climbing, hitting, or mishandling the net
• Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by an adult at all times
• Players must bring their own paddles, balls, and other necessary equipment
• Non-compliant individuals will be promptly removed
• Use of the Pickleball Courts is at the players¡¯ own risk
• Courts may be slippery when wet
• Private lessons prohibited

Pickleball Etiquette

• Courts are for Pickleball only
• First Come, First Served: Courts operate on a first come, first served basis unless there is a special designation for events or programs
• Warm-Ups: Warm-ups are limited to 5 minutes
• Queuing: Place paddles in a single line to wait for play
• Social Courts: 1, 2, and 3, player have a two-game maximum
• Challenge Court: 4, winners stay until they lose, however if there are 8 or more paddles waiting for play, players have a two-game maximum
• Sportsmanship: Players are expected to exhibit good sportsmanship and courtesy at all times

Pickleball Prohibited Items

• Bicycles, skateboards, roller skates, scooters, razors
• Food, glass, or alcoholic beverages
• Animals are not permitted on pickleball courts (except ADA-recognized service animals)

Monthly Schedule: The schedule for community pickleball court availability will be posted monthly (linked above). Additionally, the schedule will be emailed to neighboring residents and businesses to ensure widespread access to information. Ensuring members of the community have access to the courts while managing scheduling needs and operational considerations is our priority. Please note the schedule is subject to change.

Court Hours: The pickleball courts will be open from dawn until 8 PM, subject to change. Please note that these hours may vary based on scheduling needs and unforeseen circumstances. If there are any changes to the operating hours, they will be posted onsite for players' convenience.

Court Closures: There may be times when the courts need to be closed due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Notifications regarding closures will be posted online and communicated via email.
