Paw Squad
The Paw Squad returns for the 2024 season! Introduced in 2022, the Padres furry friends, Diego, Sunny, and Rookie can be found at Petco Park every Saturday and Sunday during 2024.
On Sundays, fans can meet more members of the Paw Squad in Gallagher Square! On select Sundays, Petco Love and Shelter to Soldier (STS) will be on-site with more pups to pet! Shelter to Soldier is a nonprofit organization that adopts dogs from local shelters and trains them to become psychiatric service dogs for post-9/11 veterans. STS also places emotional support animals (ESAs) with active-duty military and veterans and provides no-cost visits of love and comfort to local military, veterans, and their families through their Canine Ambassador Program.
Join the Padres on Saturdays and Sundays to meet the Paw Squad!
Meet the Paw Squad
Meet Diego
As a big ball of energy, there is never a dull moment when Diego is around ¨C even if that means getting in a little bit of trouble. You can usually find him eating the best treats, being a bit daring, or just being a downright goofball. You always know it¡¯s Diego because he loves wearing his bright gold chain to match his beloved Padres. When Diego is at Petco Park, all he wants to do is make new friends and hang with fellow Padres fans like you.
Meet Sunny
You'll always feel that San Diego shine when you're hanging with Sunny. As the leader of the Paw Squad, Sunny loves baseball more than anything and is always rooting for a Padres win! Her signature pink bow is a gameday staple and serves as a good luck charm for a Padres win! Next time you're at Petco Park, say hi to Sunny as she enjoys the game from the Petco Barkyard with the rest of the Squad.
Meet Rookie
They say you learn to love the game at a young age and Rookie is a true testament to just that. The little brother of Paw Squad, Rookie is eager to catch up with the rest of his siblings as they root for their beloved Padres. So, what does he wear on gamedays? He takes cues from both of his older siblings. He learns everything about the game from his sister, Sunny, so he too wears a bow for good luck. But, he has to match the Padres like his brother, Diego, so his bow is brown!
Meet Moose
This big, Padres-brown softy is 80lbs of pure love! Moose is a 7-year-old Pitbull rescued in 2017 from a shelter right here in San Diego. His first job was as a psychiatric service dog for a veteran in need, but after retirement, his purpose is now to spread as much love to the veteran and military community as he can as a certified therapy dog! He provides a great deal of support for veterans, active-duty service members, and their families and friends. Moose loves San Diego and the Padres, so you can always recognize him wearing his SD "Swag Chain" and "Slam Diego" patch! *Only available to meet at Padres Sunday home games; not available for community appearances.
Meet Harley
If you're looking to PLAY BALL with a pure bundle of energy, Harley is your girl! Harley is a 4-year-old German Shepherd mix and was rescued from the Escondido Humane Society in 2017. The fluffiest member of the team, Harley loves meeting new people, especially kids! *Only available to meet at Padres Sunday home games; not available for community appearances.
Meet Nala
Our golden girl, Nala, is the rookie player for this season! She is just 4 years old, and can't wait to be taken out to the ball games to meet so many new friends! Nala loves the military community in San Diego, as her Dad is a US Navy Senior Chief. And in the off season, Nala also visits local hospitals to spread love with her Mom, a SICU Nurse. Nala can't wait to meet everyone in Gallagher Square with the rest of her Paw Squad furiends!
Meet Tito
A late draft this year and our oldest ambassador is ready to be taken out to the ball game! Meet Tito, a 10 year old golden retriever but don't let his age fool you, he's ready and excited to show everyone his love for the community and the Padres in Gallagher square!
