Attended GlenOak High School in Canton, Ohio, where he played basketball and baseball...as a senior in 2019, he went 4¨C2 with a 3.19 ERA and 66 strikeouts over 37 innings... In his second full Minor League season, split 2023 between Single-A Fort Wayne and Double-A San Antionio, making a combined 23 appearances (20 starts) for a 2.73 ERA (32 ER, 105.2 IP) and earning his first-career MiLB.com Organization All-Star honors following the season...Began the season with Fort Wayne, working primarily in a starting role...in 14 appearances (12 starts), he went 5-2 for a 2.63 ERA (18 ER, 61.2 IP) with a .202 opponent clip and 1.18 WHIP...in his 12 starts, he was 4-1 with a 2.70 ERA at the Single-A level...While with the TinCaps, the right-hander had reverse splits, holding left-handed batters to just a .194 clip (26-for-134) and right-handed hitters to a .213 average (19-for-89)...Held opponents to a .204 batting average overall (77-for378) and fanned 126 of his 431 batters faced... Promoted to the Double-A level on July 14, where he remained for the rest of the season...for the Missions, he made nine appearances (eight starts) for a 2.86 ERA...His 1.14 WHIP with the Missions marked his best with a single team in a season (besides his .081 WHIP with Rookie-Level ACL Padres in 2021)...Of Bergert's 177 batters faced for the Missions, he allowed just one home run...Struck out 51 batters while allowing just 18 free passes in his nine appearances with San Antonio.
