CAREER: From his Hall of Hame Plaque: "Played each game with ceaseless intensity and unbridled passion. Lifetime marks include .305 BA, 317 HR, 1,595 RBI and 3,154 Hits. Eleven .300 seasons. A 13-time All-Star and the first player to win batting titles in three decades (1976, '80, '90). Hit .390 in 1980 MVP season and led Royals to first World Series title in 1985. Ranks among all-time leaders in hits, doubles, long hits and total bases. A.L. career record, most intentional walks. A clutch hitter whose profound respect for the game led to universal reverence."

Compiled a 404-365 record (.525) with the Royals. During his regime, the Royals won 3 division titles and a World Championship in 1985. His overall MLB managing record was 507-425 (.544), leading the New York Yankees to 103 wins in 1980.

Won 8 American League Gold Gloves. 5-time All-Star and starter in 1979. Won Silver Slugger award in 1986.Among Royals' Top 5 all-time leaders in games, at-bats, hits, runs, doubles, home runs, stolen bases, total bases and extra-base hits.

NUMBER RETIRED: 1997
In 1947, Jackie Robinson integrated American sports by breaking baseball's color barrier. He overcame numerous obstacles off the field, and he helped lead the Brooklyn Dodgers to six pennants and one World Series Championship. In recognition of his legacy, his number has been retired "in perpetuity", never to be worn again in the Major Leagues.
