The Detroit Tigers welcome the country's newest citizens to Comerica Park. Nearly 40 individuals took the oath, which was administered by a federal judge through the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services for the United States Department of Justice.
The Club is committed to being active in the community by hosting events on and off the field. Partnering with Major League Baseball and local charities, the Tigers execute various player programs, support educational programs, provide scholarship opportunities and honor the different cultures in baseball.

To honor Jackie Robinson, April 15 was proclaimed Jackie Robinson Day around the league. As part of this tribute, the Tigers and all other MLB teams honor Robinson by wearing his number, 42.

The annual ?Fiesta Tigres! celebration recognizes the rich history and the contributions of Hispanic and Latino players to the game of baseball and the Detroit Tigers. ?Fiesta Tigres! events honor past Latino players, recognize current Tigers players of Latino descent and provides programming to connect the next generation of Latinos in neighboring communities to the game. The culture and music of Spanish-speaking countries is celebrated during colorful pregame ceremonies, and the Tigers wear special alternate uniforms with "Tigres" (the Spanish word for Tigers) in script across the chest.
