Jan. 11: RHP Jorge López signs one-year contract; RHP Amos Willingham designated for assignment
The Nationals added a veteran arm to their bullpen by signing L車pez, 31. The deal is worth $3 million plus incentives, per MLB.com*s Mark Feinsand. Last season, L車pez went 2-3 with a 2.89 ERA and four saves in 52 relief appearances with the Mets and Cubs. He also has pitched for the Brewers, Royals, Orioles, Twins and Marlins in his nine-year career.
Willingham, 26, made his Major League debut with the Nats on June 28, 2023. He was 0-2 with a 7.11 ERA across 19 relief appearances (one last season) on the big league level. More >>
Jan. 8: INF Amed Rosario agrees to one-year deal; RHP Joan Adon designated for assignment
Rosario, 29, brings veteran experience to the infield at second base, shortstop and third base. In his eight-year career with the Mets, Guardians, Dodgers, Rays and Reds, he has slashed .273/.308/.398 with 63 home runs, 366 RBIs and 109 stolen bases. He also has 10.2 career WAR.
Adon, 26, debuted with the Nationals in the 2021 season finale. He recorded nine strikeouts across 5 1/3 innings against the Red Sox. From 2021-24, he went 3-16 in 35 appearances (26 starts). More >>
Jan. 5: 1B/DH Josh Bell signs one-year contract
Bell, who played for the Nationals from 2021-22, returns to Washington, D.C., as a veteran presence. The 32-year-old is likely to be tabbed as the designated hitter with the recent acquisition of Nathaniel Lowe at first base. Bell batted .249 with 23 doubles, two triples, 19 homers and 71 RBIs playing for the Marlins and D-backs last season.

OF Alex Call (partial tear of left plantar fascia)
Expected return: 2025
Call sustained the injury to his left foot while running after a shallow popup on Aug. 23. He was sidelined for the remainder of the season. Call batted .343 in 30 games with the Nats in 2024. (Last updated: Oct. 31)
RHP Cade Cavalli (Tommy John surgery; No. 8 on Nationals' Top 30 Prospects list)
Expected return: 2025
Cavalli, who missed the entire 2024 season, was looking forward to going through a regular throwing program this offseason. He underwent Tommy John surgery on March 22, 2023. (Last updated: Oct. 31)
RHP Mason Thompson (Tommy John surgery)
Expected return: 2025
Thompson underwent his second Tommy John surgery on March 1 after previously undergoing the procedure in high school. He said in early September he feels stronger and overall better than he did after his first surgery. (Last updated: Oct. 31)

RHP Josiah Gray (right elbow/forearm flexor strain)

Gray underwent Tommy John surgery and an internal brace procedure on July 24 to address a partially torn UCL. The procedure was performed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Keith Meister in Arlington. Gray was limited to two starts in 2024. (Last updated: Oct. 31)
