Community Benefits
The City of St. Petersburg and Hines Historic Gas Plant Partnership have worked together to outline a plan that meets the City¡¯s goals for affordable/workforce housing on the site and in the broader community. 1,250 of the 6,000 total residences developed will be affordable/workforce units.
This commitment represents a substantial increase from the 859 affordable/workforce units initially proposed.
The city has also negotiated 99-year rent restriction covenants for stand-alone affordable/workforce units.
About 50% of the affordable/workforce units will be developed on-site at the Historic Gas Plant District development.
A minimum of 100 of the affordable/workforce units on-site at the Historic Gas Plant District will be reserved for independent senior living (55+).
These affordable/workforce housing commitments represent a significant step toward the goals outlined in Mayor Welch¡¯s Housing Opportunities for All Plan.
