Ballpark Milestones

Kansas City goes over the 70 million mark in attendance.

Kauffman Stadium hosted the 2012 MLB All-Star Game on July 10, 2012. The event made Royals/Kauffman Stadium one of four ballparks still in use to host multiple ASGs (joining Angel Stadium, Wrigley Field and Fenway Park).

Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers completed MLB's first 'Triple Crown' season since Boston's Carl Yastzemski in 1968 on October 3, 2012 at Kauffman Stadium. He collected his final hit, home run and run batted in during the season final series in Kansas City.

September 22 - Outfielder Justin Maxwell hits a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th to beat Texas, 4-0. The win gives KC its most home wins (44) in a season since 1992.

September 30 - Kansas City's first postseason game in 29 years does not disappoint as the Royals rally from a four-run deficit for an exhilarating 9-8, 12-inning triumph over Oakland in the Wild Card Game. Catcher Salvador Perez provides the game-winning RBI, singling home Christian Colon in the 12th.

October 15 - The Royals finish off a four-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Championship Series with a 2-1 victory at Kauffman Stadium.

October 28 - Yordano Ventura tosses 7.0 scoreless innings and the Royals score seven times in the second to force a deciding game in the World Series with a 10-0 win. Ventura became the first KC rookie to earn a victory in the Fall Classic.

September 24 - Kansas City clinches its first Central Division title with a 10-4 win over the visiting Seattle Mariners. KC's regular-season wins are the third most in franchise history and top total in 35 years.

October 14 - KC wins the A.L. Division series in a decisive fifth game at Kauffman Stadium against the Houston Astros.

October 23 - Royals advance to the fourth World Series in franchise history by knocking off the Toronto Blue Jays with a 4-3 win in Game #6 at Kauffman Stadium.

April 3 - The Royals open the season at home on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball, defeating 2015 World Series opponent, the New York Mets, 4-3.

April 5, 2016 - World Series Ring Day
The Royals receive their 2015 World Series Championship rings in a pre-game ceremony before taking on the New York Mets.

June 17, 2016 - 1,000,000 Fans Can't Be Wrong
The Royals go over the 1,000,000 mark in attendance - in the 31st home game of the season tying the quickest run to that milestone in franchise history set exactly one year earlier (besting the previous pace setter of 34 games in both 1986 and 1987). Salvador Perez broke a scoreless tie and snapped Detroit starting pitcher Michael Fulmer's scoreless innings streak at 33.1 with a two-out solo HR in the sixth inning, his fifth HR in the last eight games - also recorded a two-run double to extend the lead to 4-0 in the seventh inning. Yordano Ventura scattered six hits over 6.1 innings (all singles) and induced two double plays (3rd and 4th innings). The Royals defeated Detroit 10-3 at Kauffman Stadium.

September 17, 2016 - 1,000 MLB Wins for Ned
Alcides Escobar led-off the bottom of the fifth-inning and scored the go-ahead run on a one-out RBI single by Hunter Dozier. Eric Hosmer drove in Dozier with a two-out RBI single in the same inning set up a Royals victory. The Royals defeated the Chicago White Sox 3-2 at Kauffman Stadium - it was the 1,000 MLB managerial victory for Yost and coincided with his 39th Wedding Anniversary to his wife Deborah.

May 12, 2017 - Royals 2,000th Regular Season Home Win
Eric Hosmer snapped a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the eighth-inning with an RBI double to stake the Royals to a 3-2. Hosmer's eventual game-winner came off of southpaw Vidal Nuno, who had allowed one-out single to Lorenzo Cain to start the threat. It marked the third and final one-run lead for the Royals, who jumped out to a 1-0 advantage in the top of the first when Cain doubled home Mike Moustakas. After the O's tied the score in the second, Brandon Moss delivered a 456-blast into the second tier of the water spectacular to open the top of the fifth, but Baltimore knotted the game again when Caleb Joseph scored on a wild pitch. Danny Duffy allowed two runs on eight hits over 7.0 innings while fanning six in a no decision. Joakim Soria earned the win with a perfect eighth and Kelvin Herrera secured his sixth save. The Royals won 3-2 over Baltimore at Kauffman Stadium for the 2,000th regular season home victory in Kansas City Royals franchise history.

March 31, 2018 - 50th Royals Season Begins
On the afternoon of March 29, 2018, Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy threw the first pitch starting the 50th season of Royals Baseball. The fastball was a called strike by umpire Brian Gorman against White Sox lead-off hitter Yoan Moncada. Duffy went on the strikeout Moncada looking to begin what was then the earliest Opening Day in Royals history.

September 21, 2018 - Piano Man Plays The K - Billy Joel Concert at Kauffman Stadium
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Billy Joel played the first stand-alone concert at Royals/Kauffman Stadium in 39 years. April 10, 2019 - Whit Merrifield extends his hitting streak to a team-record 31 games with a bunt single in the seventh inning vs. Seattle. His 31-game streak (which began the previous season) tops George Brett, who hit in 30-straight games in 1980.

September 3, 2019 - Jorge Soler clubs his 39th home run of the season in a game vs. Detroit, establishing the franchise record for most home runs in a season. He will finish with 48 roundtrippers by season¡¯s end, which includes hitting one in the final regular season game vs. Minnesota (Sept. 29).

September 29, 2019 - End of an era in a walk-off. Manager Ned Yost celebrates his final game as Royals skipper with a 5-4 walk-off win over Division Champion Minnesota in the final game of the season. It is also the final game for the David Glass Family ownership group, which had agreed to sell the team to Kansas City investor John Sherman one month prior.
