The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and University of Phoenix are committed to helping Arizona educators provide the best possible learning experience for their students. We are inviting teachers and school administrators to share their most innovative ideas for a chance to receive a grant of up to $10,000 to transform educational outcomes at their school!
In May of 2023, the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and Avnet announced a $1 million commitment to scholarships for Arizona college-bound STEM students over the next four years. D-backs Avnet Scholars, in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul, provides up to a four-year scholarship for high-potential, first-generation Arizona students in pursuit of a stem field college degree.
In 2013, the D-backs launched D-backs Science of Baseball presented by Resolution Copper, a series of programs and initiatives that promote the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). During the MLB season, STEM teachers (grades 3-8) can participate in a FREE D-backs Science of Baseball teacher workshop at Chase Field. During the workshop, teachers will have the opportunity to learn new and fun ways to teach students a variety of STEM concepts through the game of baseball. Participating teachers will also have the opportunity to attend a D-backs game and participate in a pre-game recognition on the field.
The Arizona Diamondbacks and Honeywell are proud to support education in Arizona through a series of programs designed to promote STEM Learning. Programs include the D-backs and Honeywell Futureshaper Robotics competition, Futureshaper STEM Grants, D. Baxter STEM Storybooks, the D-backs Kids Club, and the STEM Showcase.
The Arizona Diamondbacks Read Your Way to the Ballpark program supported by AVNET is aimed at K-6 students and encourages reading and literacy while also funding new books for the classroom. Students who meet four reading goals set by their teachers can earn prizes from the Arizona Diamondbacks, including a ticket voucher. The program is scheduled for the 2024-2025 school year and space is limited to 300 classrooms.
Fun At Bat, a joint program from the Arizona Diamondbacks, Major League Baseball and USA Baseball and presented locally by Whataburger, is a bat and ball skills development program designed for use in elementary school P.E. classes.
