Ken Kendrick Grand Slam Award Grants

Founded in 2002 and renamed in 2016 in honor of D-backs General Managing Partner Ken Kendrick, the Ken Kendrick Grand Slam Awards were created to make a larger impact on community organizations by providing grants in the amount of $25,000-$250,000. Overall, 120 Ken Kendrick Grand Slam Awards totaling over $10.3 million have been distributed since 2002.

Congratulations to our 2023 recipients of the Ken Kendrick Grand Slam Awards: Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children, Catholic Charities of Gallup, Children��s Clinics for Rehabilitative Services, HonorHealth Foundation, Open Hearts Family Wellness, United Food Bank and United States Veterans Initiatives.

Program Grants

In addition to the Ken Kendrick Grand Slam Awards, Program Grants are given statewide to non-profit organizations in the amounts of $1,000 to $5,000. Program Grants are distributed for programmatic expenses that directly impact the clients served by the organization. All 501(c)3 non-profit organizations in Arizona are welcome to apply for funding, however funding must be for serving the people of Arizona. The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation has separate grant programs available for schools (dbacks.com/teamingupforeducation) and youth sports leagues (dbacks.com/playball).

Since 1998, the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation has awarded 1,528 program grants totaling more than $6.8 million.

Mike Kennedy Diamonds Back Field Building Program

Since 2000, the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation has built or refurbished 43 baseball fields as part of the Mike Kennedy "Diamonds Back" Youth Field Building Program. The fields are built through the aid of corporate sponsor APS, local businesses, funds from the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and monetary donations from individual players. Fields are dedicated in D-backs players' names and generally feature new lights, an electronic scoreboard, new fencing and backstops, new irrigation and new dirtwork and/or grass. The locations of the fields are determined through a grant process.

Arizona Diamondbacks and Honeywell Futureshaper STEM Grants Program

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Honeywell are deeply committed to supporting outstanding STEM educators and education initiatives. During the 2023 season, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Honeywell Futureshaper STEM Grants program will support 10 schools with a $5,000 grant to bring STEM projects to life. Grants will be awarded between April and September, and at the end of the season, one school with a particularly innovative idea will be selected to receive a $15,000 grant.

Play Ball Fund

The D-backs Give Back PLAY BALL fund supported by Chase supports the outstanding efforts of Arizona's dedicated coaches and mentors to expand the game of baseball and softball and inspire Arizona's kids to PLAY BALL. Each month during the Major League Baseball season, the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation together with Chase will award up to ten $1,000 grants to Arizona based youth sports teams. Any Arizona youth team, league or organization can apply for funds to support player equipment, training for youth players or coaches, assistance with fees and expenses or facility improvements.
