Community heroes and area charities honored at Phillies Charities, Inc. Holiday Party
Local heroes took center stage last night to be saluted for their work in the Philadelphia community at the annual Phillies Charities, Inc. Holiday Party.
The event honored 35 area charities which provide vital resources to those in need. Phillies Charities, Inc. awarded a total of $1.4 million in grants, with each organization receiving a $40,000 grant to help them make a difference.
Highlights also included a special welcome by Phillies Charities, Inc. president John Weber, along with a personal thank you from Phillies manager Rob Thomson, who attended the dinner with his wife, Michele, who is a Phillies Charities board member. The clubĄ¯s Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer John Middleton and his wife, Leigh, were among those team executives in attendance.
In addition, the event included appearances by Phanta Claus, who greeted each community hero upon arrival, along with 1980 World Series champion Dickie Noles and the Phillies Ballgirls.
