Ketel Marte, Diamondbacks
Marte left Arizona's game against the Nationals on April 4 after injuring himself sliding into second base. It was later determined that he suffered a left hamstring strain and will likely land on the injured list, according to D-backs manager Torey Lovullo.
Freddie Freeman, Tony Gonsolin and Evan Phillips, Dodgers
Freeman is expected back at the beginning of the Dodgers' next homestand, which starts on April 11 against the Cubs, after aggravating his surgically repaired right ankle by slipping in the shower.
Gonsolin (back tightness) and Phillips (torn muscle in right rotator cuff) are scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on April 3.
Spencer Strider, Sean Murphy and Reynaldo L¨®pez, Braves
Strider, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, recorded eight strikeouts and kept Nashville hitless over 5 1/3 scoreless innings (75 pitches) for Triple-A Gwinnett on April 4. The Braves will decide if he needs another rehab start.
Murphy, out with a cracked left rib played seven innings on April 3, and continued his rehab assignment by catching Spencer Strider on April 4. If all goes well, he could be activated during this weekend's series against the Marlins.
L¨®pez will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder on April 8. The Braves are hopeful he will pitch again this year, but they won¡¯t know until the procedure is completed.
Cody Bellinger, Luis Gil, Clarke Schmidt and DJ LeMahieu, Yankees
Bellinger is dealing with a stiff back that kept him out of the lineup on April 4 against the Pirates, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said.
Gil (right lat strain) could resume playing catch within a week to 10 days, manager Aaron Boone said on April 4.
Schmidt (right shoulder fatigue) is scheduled to start for Double-A Somerset on April 5.
LeMahieu (left calf strain) is expected to need "a pretty big buildup" of game activity before returning, Boone said on April 3.
Ranger Su¨¢rez, Phillies
Su¨¢rez (back) is scheduled to throw a live BP on April 5 in Clearwater, Fla. If he does, and if it goes well, it might not be long before he begins a rehab assignment.
Josh Jung and Jack Leiter, Rangers
Manager Bruce Bochy said Jung (neck spasms) will DH for Double-A Frisco on April 5 and play in the field the following day. He¡¯ll travel with the team to Chicago with the hope of being activated on April 8. Jung was placed on the IL retroactive to March 29.
Leiter was placed on the 10-day IL retroactive to April 2 with a blister on his right middle finger. Patrick Corbin was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to assume Leiter's spot on the 26-man roster.
Luis Rengifo, Ryan Zeferjahn, and Zach Neto, Angels
Rengifo left the club's April 4 home opener in the fourth inning after running the bases with a left hamstring strain. It's the same hamstring that bothered him in Spring Training.
Zeferjahn left the club's April 4 home opener in the sixth inning with right hamstring tightness.
Neto (right shoulder surgery) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake April 1 and played shortstop for the first time on April 4, but there's no exact timetable for his return.
Grayson Rodriguez, Orioles
Rodriguez (right elbow inflammation) threw his second bullpen session on April 2 at Camden Yards.
Sean Manaea, Francisco Alvarez and Jeff McNeil, Mets
An MRI revealed inflammation in Manaea's right oblique after he experienced discomfort while ramping up, manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters on April 1. The left-hander received a PRP injection and will be shut down for two weeks.
Alvarez (fractured left hamate bone) began performing catching drills on March 29 and caught a bullpen on April 4.
McNeil (right oblique strain) is taking swings at "80, 85 percent," according to Mendoza, but he has yet to participate in on-field batting practice.
Max Scherzer and Erik Swanson, Blue Jays
Scherzer (right thumb inflammation) is not ready to start playing catch yet, manager John Schneider said on April 4. The Blue Jays hope he'll be able to resume throwing at some point during their current road trip, which runs through April 13.
Swanson (median nerve entrapment) was scheduled to throw a bullpen session on April 4.
Gleyber Torres, Matt Vierling and Alex Cobb, Tigers
Torres (left oblique strain) is scheduled to complete defensive drills on April 5-6.
Vierling (right rotator cuff muscle strain) is doing all baseball activities except throwing, including taking batting practice in the cage at Comerica Park.
Cobb (right hip inflammation) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on April 5, followed by a live session against hitters on April 8.
Javier Assad, Cubs
Assad (left oblique strain) was scheduled to throw two innings in a game setting in Arizona on April 4, per manager Craig Counsell.
Matt McLain, Alexis D¨ªaz, Andrew Abbott, Austin Hays, Tyler Stephenson, Reds
McLain was scratched about an hour before the April 4 game vs. the Brewers with left hamstring tightness. No word was given on how long he could be out of the lineup.
D¨ªaz (left hamstring strain) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on April 4.
Abbott (left shoulder) threw 85 pitches over 5 2/3 innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Louisville on April 1. His second start for Louisville is scheduled for April 6.
The Reds expect Hays to return from his strained left calf on April 11.
Stephenson's left oblique strain showed "vast improvement" in his latest MRI, manager Terry Francona said on March 29. The catcher has another MRI scheduled for April 7.
Luis Garcia and Lance McCullers Jr., Astros
An MRI revealed inflammation in Garcia¡¯s surgically repaired right elbow. He is currently shut down from throwing and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.
McCullers (right flexor tendon surgery) is expected to make his next rehab start on April 5 with Double-A Corpus Christi.
Michael Soroka, Nationals
Soroka was placed on the 15-day IL with a right biceps strain on April 4, retroactive to April 1.
Nolan Gorman, Cardinals
Gorman was placed on the 10-day injured list on April 4, retroactive to April 2, with a right hamstring strain.
Brayan Bello and Lucas Giolito, Red Sox
Bello (right shoulder inflammation) began his Triple-A rehab assignment on April 1, allowing four runs on four hits (two walks) with five K's over 2 1/3 innings. His next rehab start is scheduled for April 6.
Giolito (left hamstring strain) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Worcester on April 2, allowing one hit and one walk over 2 1/3 scoreless frames. His next rehab start is scheduled for April 8.
Zack Gelof, Athletics
Gelof (right hamate bone fracture) has begun light workouts as of April 1 but has not resumed baseball activities.
Edward Cabrera, Marlins
Cabrera (right middle finger blister) threw three innings and 46 pitches for Triple-A Jacksonville on April 1 to begin his rehab assignment.
Austin Gomber, Rockies
Gomber (left shoulder soreness) removed himself from what would have been his second Triple-A rehab start on April 2 and will meet the team in Denver for re-examination.
